JEFFERSON - Pauline Venable Wilkes, 92, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
She was born in Humboldt, Tenn., the daughter of the late Emory and Ida Brown Venable. She was an avid flower gardener, enjoyed and wrote poetry, was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, and attended Martin Institute. Mrs. Wilkes is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Wilkes; a daughter, Brenda Wilkes; son, Alton Wilkes; sisters, Margret Patterson and Eunice Howington; and a brother, Alva Venable.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Dean and Viola Wilkes, and Claude Emory Wilkes, all of Jefferson; granddaughters, Sherry and Ross Shepherd, Hull, and Deanna and Chris Poole, Jefferson; great-grandchildren, John Shepherd, Stella Poole, Josiah and Timothy Poole, and Kim and Carolyn Wilkes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Poole officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, September 18, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
