Thelma Johnston (9-1-12)

Thelma Yvonne “Vonnie” Johnston, formerly of Commerce, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012, in Grapevine, Texas.

She was born in Mobile, Ala., the daughter of the late Thelma Elizabeth “Grana” Duff Satterfield and Evon Daniel Williams.

Survivors include daughters, Duff and Patrick O’Dell and Julie and Bill Pickler, all of Grapevine, Texas, and Cindy and Bill Galt, Athens; daughter, Pam and Jim Pettit, Newport, Va.; and sons, Mike and Marc Johnston, both of Grapevine, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 15 and counting great-grandchildren; and the love of her life, Jack Anthony, Center.

Vonnie was proud that she was able to donate her body to science. A memorial service was held in Grapevine, Texas on Saturday, September 8, and a memorial mass will be held at a later date in Mobile, Ala.
