GAINESVILLE - Laura Fay Irvin Vandiver, 58, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012.
She was born in Gainesville, the daughter of the late A.J. and Flora Morgan Irvin. She was a 1972 graduate of Jefferson High School, and earned a LPN degree from Athens Technical College. Mrs. Vandiver was a member of the Blackshear Place Baptist Church, Flowery Branch, and was a retired Director of Human Resources with over 30 years experience at various manufacturing facilities. She was also the Business Director for the P.U.R.E. Ministries in Gainesville.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Russell Vandiver, Gainesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Amanda Vandiver, Gainesville; grandchildren, Jackson and Taylor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tracey (Irvin) and Lew Chandler, Corinth, N.Y., and Marcia (Irvin) and Alex Bryan, Jefferson; niece, Katie and Ryan Glenn, West Palm Beach, Fla.; nephew, Will Bryan, Atlanta; and a great-nephew and niece, Mason and Carson, West Palm Beach, Fla.
The visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Blackshear Place Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, at 4 p.m. in the Blackshear Place Baptist Church, Flowery Branch, with Jeff Crook officiating. Burial will follow in the Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery with Ralph Atkinson, Les Johnson, Homer Myers, Frank Siple, Dean Stringer, Keith Moore, Mike Sample and Jeff Rice honored as pallbearers.
