MAYSVILLE - Courtney Alisha Phagan, 18, of Maysville, passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Courtney had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Courtney's life of 18 years was way too short to many, but those who knew her have been touched by her life and understand the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her beautiful smile and quality of life brought so much joy to her family and friends. Although Courtney was only with us for a short time here on earth before Jesus took her hand and lead her to Heaven, she leaves us all with such courage and hope and reminds us of the preciousness of life and hope hereafter for all Christians that accept Jesus into their lives. Courtney loved spending time with both family and friends; enjoyed listening to music and going to school. Courtney's favorite color was blue. One of Courtney's favorite quotes was "If ur not first ur last." Courtney's Daddy always told her that "No guy is good enough for his little girl." Courtney's outlook on life was to "Live like there's no tmrw."
She was born June 28, 1994, in Clarke County, the daughter of Keith Patrick and Bonnie Mae Leach Phagan. Courtney was a senior at Banks County High School and was accepted to Piedmont College, where she would begin studying law. Courtney was a member of Blacks Creek Baptist Church. Courtney was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Willis "Dub" Leach and Ray Phagan.
Survivors in addition to her parents include a brother, Corey Phagan, Maysville; sister and brother-in-law, Kayla and Justin Roberts, Commerce; maternal grandmother, Jane Leach, Commerce; paternal grandmother, Margie Phagan, Commerce; aunts and uncles, Chris Phagan, Jeff Phagan, Susan Pruitt, Lorna Lester, Teresa Cullinan, Tracy Ramirez and Tonya Barrett; nieces and nephews, Shannon Phagan, Chelsea Pruitt, Christa Phagan, Michelle Lester, Scott Lester, Drake Cullinan, Ben Cullinan, M.J. Leftwich, Anna Ramirez and Lyla Barrett; and her God-parents, Sally and Richard Miller.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Swayne Carlan officiating. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Any donations can be made to United Community Bank for Courtney Phagan to help take care of expenses.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.
