Dorothy Owensby (8-9-12)

COMMERCE - Dorothy A. Owensby, 78, died Thursday, August 9, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Owensby; a son, Timothy Ray Bennett; and brothers, Larry Dalton and Roger Dalton.

Survivors include five sons, Ricky Anthony Bennett, Royston, Wesley Owen Bennett, Commerce, Mitchell Alvery Owensby, Royston, Guy Daniel Owensby, Commerce, and Darren Keith Owensby, Commerce; a brother, Merel Dalton, Jefferson; and five sisters, Barbara Gordon, Royston, Libby Holiday, Arcade, Angie Hernandez, Gainesville, Rebecca Standridge, Martin, Norma Cromer, Spartanburg, S.C., and Margie Fitzpatrick, Danielsville; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 12, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery. The family is at the residence 251 Willow Street, Commerce, and will receive friends in the funeral home Saturday, August 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
