BANKS COUNTY - Gerald R. Carey, 82, was born in Cortland, N.Y. on April 11, 1930. He was a builder and contractor in New York as well as Sebastian, Fla. Living there for 32 years, he served as the chairman for 10 years on the City of Sebastian Construction Board. He was well respected by his peers and for those whom he built. After falling in love with the beauty of North Georgia and its mountains, his last adventure was to relocate there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Irene Carey, and will be met at the rainbow bridge by all of his beloved "four legged" friends.
Survivors include a son Jerry Carey (Joan), Cortland, N.Y.; daughter, Carol Marshell (James), Conway, S.C.; son, Eric Carey (Anita), Crawford; and the greatest gift, his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and yes even great-great-grandchildren; his wife Joy of 18 and half years and Hollanger who are both lost without him.
He lived as the Proud Marine with the United States Marine Corp motto "SemperFI" for most in his heart he was.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce is in charge of arrangements.
