Charlotte Lyle Crumley passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in Charleston, South Carolina.
A native of Jackson County, she lived for 62 years in Athens. She was born October, 10, 1924, the daughter of James John and Rosalie Sims Lyle. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, H. Newell Crumley; five sisters; and three brothers.
She was a 1941 graduate of Maysville High School and attended Brenau College and North Georgia College. She taught in the Jefferson City Schools and at Ila Elementary. Mrs. Crumley was very active at her church, First Baptist, Athens, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and sister who was loved by all her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Maria Crumley Schendzelos and son-in-law Alec Schendzelos, Charleston, S.C.; granddaughter, Cara Charlotte Schendzelos, Columbia, S.C.; grandson, Edward Lyle Schendzelos, Charleston, S.C.; sister-in-law, Clemmie Lyle (Mrs. William), Maysville; and brother-in-law, Jolly Crumley and his wife Carolyn Crumley, Homer.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Frank Granger officiating. Interment will be in the Sunrise Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, August 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Athens, Georgia.
