ATHENS - Mabeth "Betty" Duffell Yarbrough, 84, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012.
She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Ernest and Myrtice Roberts Wilkes. She was retired from the Navy Supply Corps School, where she was an Executive Assistant, and was a member of the East Athens Baptist Church. Mrs. Yarbrough was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby R. Duffell; husband, Carl Eugene Yarbrough; daughter, Pam Duffell Simmons; son-in-law, Rodney Simmons; and brother, Bob Wilkes.
Survivors include children, Kathy Duffell Johnson, Athens, Brad Duffell, Jacksonville, Fla., Debbie Duffell White, Raleigh, N.C., Patti Duffell, Bishop; sisters, Ernestine Wilkes Daniel, Portland, Ore., Jo Anne Allen, Sunnyside, Ga., Jane Campbell, Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Jack Wilkes, Pelham; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 2 p.m. in the East Athens Baptist Church with Chaplain Dennis Duck officiating. The burial will follow in the Oconee Hill Cemetery with the East Athens Baptist Church Deacons honored as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the Church.
