LTC Ernest Mobley "Bob" Eberhardt, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, July 22, 2012, at his residence in Atlanta. He was the son of the late Ernest Mobley Eberhardt, Sr. and Blanche Hoopaugh Eberhardt, formerly of Maysville.
Born August 30, 1927 in Hall County, Bob attended North Georgia College in Dahlonega, where he met his future wife Robbie Jean Westbrook. They were married on Christmas Eve 1950. As a career military officer, Bob devoted 30 years of service to the US Army. Upon his retirement, he returned to his native Georgia and settled in Marietta, where he and Robbie made their home for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Robbie Westbrook Eberhardt.
Survivors include countless friends and family, including daughters Andrea Zimmer (Eugene, deceased), Atlanta, Patti Davis (Les), Palm Coast, Fla., Beth Ward (Terry), Atlanta; grandchildren, Jeff Davis (Kari), Denver, Charles Zimmer, Atlanta, Hunter Davis (Cailin), Chicago, Shelby Zimmer, Cooper Ward, and Cecilia Ward, Atlanta; great-grandsons, Gavin Davis and Chase Davis; sister, Annah Jo Bunch (Leo, deceased), Newport News, Va.; brother, Glynn Eberhardt (Janis), Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Per his wishes, Bob will be cremated and interred beside his wife at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Dates and details for a memorial service will be announced at a future date.
