Pretchel Pitts (7-21-12)

MT. AIRY - Pretchel Brady Pitts, 90, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012.

Born in Banks County on January 1, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Will and Nancy Rice Brady. She was a retired seamstress and member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts and clothes and also cooking. She was affectionately known as "Lillie Mae," "Pat" and "Granny Pitts" to her family and friends. Mrs. Pitts was very family oriented having enjoyed spending time especially with her grandchildren. Mrs. Pitts was preceded in death by her husband, F. Lewis Pitts, Sr.; brothers, Boyce, Owen, Othor and Boyd Brady; and sisters, Violet Westbrook, Mary Hayes, Florene Thomas and Ola Ausburn. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include a son, F. Lewis Pitts, Jr., Canton, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Joe A. and Carla Pitts, Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Grady Allen, Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Welcome Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 23.
