Lynda Smith (7-18-12)

WINTERVILLE - Lynda Laine Jones Smith, 66, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at her home in Winterville surrounded by family.

She was born on March 31, 1946 in Clarke County to the late Emory Otis and Winona Duncan Jones. She lived most of her life in Oglethorpe County in the Winterville area. She graduated from Oglethorpe County High School and worked for the General Times, Ranich, and Newell Home Fashion.
In addition to her parents, Emory and Winona Jones, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her siblings, Lillian Jones, Billy Jones, Ethel Bridges, Vivian Bradberry, Ann McDaniel, Frances Burkhalter and Grady Jones.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Smith, Winterville; one daughter, Shelley White, Jefferson; and granddaughter, Katie White, Jefferson. Her other children include Stephanie (Joe) Wray of Carlton, Tracy (Elaine) Smith of Elberton, Selyn (Neal) Wray, Winterville; grandchildren, Trevor Wray, Jody Wray, Trinity Smith, Tessa Smith, Colton Smith, Alexis Wray, Bailey Wray; and great-grandchildren, Lance Wray, Hailey Joe Burgess, Logan Wray and Braxton Burgess; brothers, Robert Jones, Danielsville, Charles (Mildred) Jones, Winterville, Paul (Vi) Jones, Farmington, and Clifford (Effie) Jones, Winterville; and sisters, Carol Porterfield, Winterville, and Dorothy Lovett, Commerce.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the Lord & Stephens, EAST chapel. The Revs. Eric Shelton and Russell Bruce will officiate. Burial will follow in Arnoldsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 20 at the funeral home.
