JEFFERSON – Virginia Rebecca Cartwright Howland, 91, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012.
Mrs. Howland was born in Tallapoosa, Ga., the daughter of the late Stuart and Virginia Wright Cartwright. She worked for the Department of Defense and was a member of the Tallapoosa Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Howland was preceded in death by her husband, Cpt. Charles C. Howland and granddaughter, Christy Cates.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Mack Cates, Jefferson; brother and sister-in-law, Charles R. and Louise Cartwright, Woodstock; granddaughter and husband, Cindy and David Benton, Jefferson; nephew, Chuck Cartwright; nieces, Patricia Barwick and Ginny Lynch; and two grandchildren, Samuel and Christopher Benton.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jefferson with the Rev. Mike McLemore officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.
