WINDER - Reba Loggins Deaton Rooks, 94, formerly of Hoschton, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late E. G. Loggins, Sr. and Janie Reynolds Loggins. She was preceded in death by husbands, Hoke Deaton, Sr. and Sam Rooks; and siblings, Willie Saye Loggins, Owen Loggins, Gilbert Loggins, Ruth Hampton and Ida Belle Nix. Mrs. Rooks was a longtime member of Sharon Baptist Church, where she served as church pianist for over 50 years. She was a seamstress at Carwood Manufacturing Company and later at Fawn Togs.
Survivors include children, Jeanette (Bill) Halfhill, Winder, Edna Vix, Austell, Sue Turner, Decatur, Hoke Jr. (Barbara Ann) Deaton, Barnesville and James (Linda) Deaton, Braselton; sisters, Anna Lou McCord, Abbeville, S.C. and Estelle McMahan, Honea Path, S.C.; step-children, Patsy (Mike) Wall, Winder, Carolyn (Carroll) Ferguson, Dacula and Charles (Terri) Rooks, Jackson; nine grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 14 step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Marion Prather officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 28, from 5 to 8 p.m.
