COLBERT - Killian Dane Merritt Ward, 22, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Athens on February 8, 1990, the son of Michael “Mike” Joseph and Karla Denise Merritt Ward of Colbert. He attended Colbert Elementary, MCMS and MCHS, he was a carpenter employed by Guaranteed Installation and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Killian with great talent was also a founding member of the band Southern Soul playing lead guitar. He often spent time playing songs for his late grandmother, Edna Merritt of Smyrna.
Survivors in addition to his parents include a brother, Michael Joseph Merritt Ward and his wife Shelby, Hull; grandparents, Theresa and Donald Lehne, St. Augustine, Florida; uncles and aunts, John and Patsy Simmons, Che and Vicki Barbour, Lance Lehne, Barbara and Robbie Henderson, Donna Jobe, Jan Schwiss, and Kristina Lehne.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Jesse L. and Edna Grimes Merritt and Jackie Lee Ward.
A memorial service celebrating Killian's life will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 3 p.m. at the Shiloh Social Club (the "River"), 1181 Harry Pauls Rd., Danielsville, GA 30633.
A memorial fund has been established at First Citizens Bank in his name,
Killian Dane Merritt Ward, and contributions may be made or sent to any branch.
Berry Funeral Home & Crematory, Elberton, is respectfully in charge of arrangements.
