Steward Franklin Phillips, 88, of Danielsville, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Franklin County on November 2, 1919, the son of the late Wiley Franklin and Lillie Mae Phillips Phillips. He was a farmer, member of the Community Baptist Church, an avid Cat Fisherman, and a past member of the North Georgia Fox Hunters Association. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Fern Maxey Phillips.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Jeanna Phillips and Danny and Carol Phillips, all of Danielsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James Mason, Royston, and Claudia McCorkie, Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, J.O. Phillips and C.J. Phillips, both of Danielsville; sisters, Sara Daniel, Bobbie Hattaway and Geneva Gordy, all of Danielsville; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 11, at 11 a.m., in the Community Baptist Church in Ila with the Revs. Kent Barrett and Andy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Danielsville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Justin Phillips, Wiley Phillips, Quentin Mason, Stuart Mason, Harry Daniel and Tony Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons-in-law, great-grandsons and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, September 10, from 6 to 9 p.m.

We will surely miss Mr. Steward. He was a fine man. We always enjoyed seeing him ride by on his way to fish. His laughter and his smile were always a joy. We know though that he was ready to see Jesus.

Mr. Steward gone but never forgotten. He was one of the finest people I have ever known. I would like to borrow his words and say to the family.......God bless ya I love ya.
