BALDWIN - James P. Bellamy, 86, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Habersham Medical Center.
He was born on September 14, 1925, in Banks County, the son of the late Emmitt P. and Gladys McDuffie Bellamy. He was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Coker; and brothers, Roger Bellamy and C.T. Bellamy. He was a retired employee of Chicopee Manufacturing Company with over 40 years of service. He was a faithful member of Baldwin Baptist Church for 50 years, serving as a deacon, and was the president of Claud's Class for over 20 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 65 years, Kathleen Mathis Bellamy, Baldwin; daughter, Vickie Fowler, Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and David Sanders, Baldwin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Francine and Chandler Ward, Cornelia, Shirley and Leon Wilkinson, Cornelia, and Pat and Billy Trotter, Alto; sister, Ruth Barrett, Alto; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buck and Carolyn Bellamy, Mt. Airy, and Bob and Joyce Bellamy, Baldwin; brother-in-law and his wife, Omer Ray and Opal Coker, Alto; sister-in-law, Evelyn Bellamy, Baldwin; grandchildren, Alison B. Brown, Baldwin, Amy and her husband, Stuart Sugg, Winterville, N.C., and Becky and her husband, Kevin Lomax, Baldwin; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Noah Sugg, Addie Brown, and Bailey Lomax; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 24, at Baldwin Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Brown, Frank Sailers, Mike Campbell, and Mr. David Sanders officiating. Interment was in the Baldwin City Cemetery.
