ATHENS - Louise Lindsey Autry, 97, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 15, 2012.
She was born in Oglethorpe County, the daughter of the late Maude and Frank Lindsey. Mrs. Autry was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Alma Jean and James L. Brooks; sister, Mary Ann Shinkle; and great-grandchild, Amanda Kay Brooks.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 77 years, Willie C. Autry; a son, Melvin (Norma) Autry, Athens; daughter, Linda (Bill) Williams, Winterville; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Autry's inspirational poems, songs, music and her singing ministry were a special gift she enjoyed sharing with others throughout her lifetime. She was a loving wife, mother, superb homemaker, and an avid gardener of vegetables and flowers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 18, at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville with the Rev. Raymond Duncan officiating. Interment will be in Danielsville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 3 p.m. until service time.
