DANIELSVILLE – Lee Martin Carey, 89, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Madison County, on October 30, 1922, he was the son of the late Ammie Cary Sr. and Janie Beard Cary. He was retired from Oliver Rubber Company and was of the Baptist denomination. He was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II in the European Theater. Mr. Carey was preceded in death by brothers, O.B. Cary and Ammie Cary Jr.; sisters, Mary Dowd and Golden Mansfield.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Louise Ingram Carey, Danielsville; children and spouses, William Reid and Deborah Cary, Alpharetta, David and Ginger Carey, Danielsville, LaVonda Haley, Ila, and Louise and Bill Nolan, Matthews, N.C.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sisters, M.E. Dudley, Royston, and Janie Saye, Danielsville.
A special “thank you” to Odyssey Hospice, Lisa Maxwell, Joan Adams, Shannon Frady, and the family of Jerome Stration.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in the Pocataligo Community. Pallbearers will be Greg Dudley, Mike Dudley, Mark Austin, Kenneth Austin, Junior Shields, and Autry Bishop.
The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13. The family is at home.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, is in charge of arrangements.
