Thomas Jurdan Joiner, 81, formerly of Comer, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 following a period of declining health.
He was born on October 8, 1930, the son of the late C.R. and Mary Emma Gracen Joiner in Dublin. Mr. Joiner served his country honorably in the United States Army, and was a teacher with Athens Technical College. He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Joiner; and a brother, Gracen Joiner.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Lydia Joiner; daughters, Connie Lamas and Beth Gilmore; sisters, Selia Tyler, Virginia Norell; brother, Billy Joiner; sister-in-law Dottie Joiner; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Comer Baptist Church on Thursday, May 24, with the Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Interment was in the Comer City Cemetery.
Memorial donations be made to the Comer Baptist Church.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
