ATHENS - Guy Franklin Tiller, 68, died Monday, May 28, 2012.
A native and lifelong resident of Athens, he was the son of the late Guy Franklin, Sr. and Minnie Lou Anthony Tiller. He was preceded in death by a brother, Berry Tiller; and mother-in-law, Lucille Wilkes. He was a veteran truck driver of over 40 years with Better Maid Dairies, Coble Dairy Products and retired from Pilgrims Pride in 2004.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Viola Tiller; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Regina Tiller; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Freda Tiller; grandchildren, Rick "My Friend" Tiller, Jessie (Crystal) Jones, Ann (Cal) Gresham and Mitchell (Beth) Jones; great-grandchildren, Connor, Matthew, Myla, Ethan, Zakk and Addison; aunt, Annie Belle Brooks; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sam and Darlene Wilkes and Shirley Tiller; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at Lord & Stephens Chapel, EAST, with the Rev. Kevin Tiller officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Russell Tiller, Danny Bales, Frank Childs, Thomas Tiller, Dennis Baker and Jimmy Greene. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, May 30, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank Drs. Steven Chesser, Phillip Niklinokas and Cynthia Shepherd and their staff, and the Oncology nursing staff at Athens Regional Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassion.
