PENDERGRASS - Doris Velma Helton Thomas, 84, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012.
She was born in Harlan, Ky., the daughter of the late Glenn and Lela Peace Helton. She was of the Baptist denomination and had worked as a machine operator in a steel mill. Her daughter, Mary Magdalene Jeffrey and son, Virgil Leon Jeffrey, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda L. Carke, Pendergrass, Emma J. Thomas, Oakwood, and Anita J. Brandon, South Bend, Ind.; sons, Clarence O. Jeffrey Jr., Lancaster, Ky., and Glenn E. Jeffrey, Gainesville; sisters, Dessie Kannard, Bradford, Ohio, and Joie Bullock, Lake City, Tenn., brother, Poncho Helton, Dawsonville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 31, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hoard officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

I just want to say I know Brenda Clark,and family. Brenda I am so sorry of your lost. Mrs.Thomas was such a great Lady and a true friend who will be truly missed by the family and friends. Rest in peace Mrs.Thomas May God Bless You and the clark family!
