LULA - William Jewell Lewallen, 58, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Jackson County, the son of Kathleen Samples Lewallen of Homer and the late Jewell Lewallen. He was a member of Glory Baptist Church and was retired from the Georgia State Patrol.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Diane Heath Lewallen, Lula; daughter, Jessica Lewallen and son, Justin Lewallen, all of Lula; sister, Linda L. Brooks, D.V.M., Cornelia; and nephews, Philip Wellington Brooks and John Stuart Brooks.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 26, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Vaughn Howington, Jr., Swayne Cochran and Chris Heath officiating. Interment will follow in Nails Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night, May 25, from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Glory Baptist Church, 248 Bromme St., Homer GA 30547, or Nails Creek Baptist Church Restoration Fund, 2743 Hwy. 51 N, Homer, GA 30547, in memory of William J. Lewallen.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.

I've known William off and on for a long time and use to joke with him about harassing the public. I was surprised and shocked to learn of his passing, first seeing the gathering at Little Wards this afternoon (Saturday). My condolences to his family for their loss.

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO ALL OF THE FAMILY. HE WAS A GOOD MAN,EVERYONE THAT KNEW HIM WILL MISS. I HAVE BEEN KNOWING HIM A LONG TIME.
