JEFFERSON – Joe Lewis “Big Joe” Longstreet died Monday, May 14, 2012, following a brief illness.
Survivors include four sisters, Margret Parham, Gladys Glasper, Edna Jackson and Irene Jackson, all of Gainesville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 18, at 12 o’clock, from the Maxey Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. R.E. Cooper officiating.
Forestglen Mortuary, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Longstreet lived on my parents farm on Brockton Rd. for about 15 years. He was a loyal friend and companion to them throughout the last years of their lives and became a part of our family. Whether he was drinking coffee with them, helping daddy plant a garden or telling my boys stories, his gentle manner and kind ways will live on always in our memories of "Big Joe".
