HOMER - Mary Ann Carlan Galloway, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
She was born on January 10, 1937, in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Asbury and Nina Ayers Carlan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Galloway; a son, Henry Galloway; daughter-in-law, Janet Galloway; grandson, Freddie Lee Reems, Jr.; and great-grandson, Jessie Chapman. Mrs. Galloway was a retired employee of Mount Vernon Mills with 23 years of service and was a member of the Nails Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Freddie Reems, Homer; daughter, Joyce Turpin, Lula; son, Steve Allen Simmons, Lexington; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Mack Handley, Ila; brother, Horace Carlan, Commerce; grandchildren, Joseph Meacacke, Jr., Jennifer Meacacke, Peggy Leann Reems, Robert Chapman, and Steven Chapman; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Homer, with the Revs. Swayne Carlan and John Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, at the funeral home.
