CHICOPEE – Estelle Pritchett Whitfield, 92, died, Sunday, May 13, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Banks County, she had lived in Hall County for most of her life, and was the daughter of the late Will F. and Callie Nunn Pritchett. She retired after 40 years of service from the J.C. Penney Company and was an active member of Chicopee Baptist Church for 59 years. She taught Sunday School and youth programs for many years. Mrs. Whitfield was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jessie Wilton Whitfield; son Eddie Ira Whitfield; brothers, Elzie, J.D., Pierce, Charlie and Bernice; and sisters, Vertie Webb, Oulia Sheridan, Wilma Sisk and Minnie Hooper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William and Susan Whitfield and granddaughter, Elizabeth, of Evergreen, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Lori Orr Whitfield and grandchildren, Megan and Craig, of Flowery Branch; sister, Rosa Lee Parker, Oakwood; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Phil Parks, Phil Carpenter and Darin Vogt will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, May 15 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Deepest sympathies to all of the family. I worked for about a year with Estelle at JCP at Lakeshore Mall in the late 70s. She was a hard worker with a great work ethic and always had a great attitude. I also recall that she had a great sense of humor and a quick wit.
