STATHAM – Lona Mae Pursley Sanders, 92, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late G.J. and Essie Allen Stinchcomb. She was retired from Statham Garment and was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by husbands, Emory O. Pursley and Robert L. Sanders; a son, Daniel D. Pursley; and siblings, Joe Allen Stinchcomb, Robert Stinchcomb, A.J. (Junebug) Stinchcomb, Runell Pursley and Helen Collins.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Lou Epps and Winfred Wilson, and Faye Sanders, all of Statham; daughter-in-law, Savilla Sanders, Statham; son-in-law, Chandler Aaron, Statham; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Stinchcomb, Tommy Stinchcomb and Randolph Stinchcomb, all of Winder, and W.L. (Bill) Stinchcomb, Watkinsville; and a sister, Martha Bell Garrett, Gradis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Bob Bray officiating. Burial will be in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery in Statham. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
