Irene McGee (5-3-12)

FLOWERY BRANCH - Irene E. McGee, 98, passed away, Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Peachtree Plantation.

She was born February 27, 1914, the daughter of the late Guy and Cleo Emmett of Jefferson. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and was employed at Chicopee Manufacturers for 35 years. Mrs. McGee was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Howard B. McGee; brother, Harold Emmett; and sister, Clara Mae Cagle.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn H. (Stumpy) and Pat McGee, Perry, and Micky A. and Katherine McGee, Lula; daughter, Peggy M. Turk, Oakwood; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A very special "thank you" for her caregivers at Peachtree Plantation and Odyssey Hospice.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 4, at the Redwine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Dave Channell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, May 4, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
