'Papa Jack'

COMMERCE – John Joseph ‘Jack’ Heany Jr., 69, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.

Born in Anniston, Ala., he was the son of the late John Joseph Heany Sr. and Mildred Smith Heany.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Minter Heany, Commerce; children, Amy and Mark Pugh, Alabama, Tonia Hooker, Tennessee, Sonia and Chris Johnson, Georgia, and John Heany, Alabama; sister, Dianne and Dennis Kochanowski, West Virginia; nine grandchildren, Garrett Pugh, Gavin Pugh, Graceson Pugh, Mason Heany, Tiffany Abernathy, Tanya Abernathy, Jason Hooker, A.J. Johnson, and Brookanne McManus; a great-grandson, Braxton Bell; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 2, at 3 p.m., from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 1, from 6 to 9 p.m.
