BALDWIN – Thomas Jenkins Gailey, 72, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Stephens County Hospital.
He was born in Banks County, on August 5, 1939, the son of Rubie Wilbanks Gailey of Baldwin and the late Shelton Gailey. Mr. Gailey was preceded in death a son, Michael Gailey. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He was a retired poultry farmer and was formerly employed with International Furniture for a numbers of years. Mr. Gailey also manufactured wood furniture and bee supplies. People came from all over the area to purchase his corn and watermelons. He enjoyed auctions, driving antique tractors and a miniature 1932 Model T. Ford Roadster in parades.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his loving wife of 48 years, Pauline Byrd Gailey, Baldwin; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Laura Gailey, Baldwin; sister Jackie Gailey, Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Jean Gailey,
Baldwin; four grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Gailey, Baldwin, Courtney and Emily Gailey, Canon; and mother-in-law, Cleola Crump Byrd, Toccoa.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 29, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Revs. Tim House, James Morgan, and Kenneth McEntire officiating. Music was provided by Russ Brown. Burial was in the Broad River Baptist Church Cemetery.
