LULA - Gladys Mae Mulkey, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at a local area hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Gilmer County, on February 10, 1932, the daughter of the late W.R. and Alice Blalock Davis. Mrs. Mulkey was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Mulkey; grandson, Alan Kent; and several siblings. Mrs. Mulkey was of the Baptist denomination and a very dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and above all, a dedicated servant to her Lord.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Jerald Mathis, Alto; daughter and friend, Kathy Voyles and Don Scales, Homer; daughter and son-in-law, June and Randall Ray, Clermont; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Sherry Mulkey, Lula; sister, Jewell Aaron, Canton; sister and bother-in-law, Hazel and Bobby Pierce, Dawsonville; brother, Lewis Davis, Canton; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Peggy Davis, Canton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 2 p.m. from Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lula with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire, and Mr. Randall Ray officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, April 23, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin.
