GAINESVILLE - Henry Clyde Stowers, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born on May 20, 1928, in Dawson County, he was the son of the late Henry Dewey and Izze Anderson Stowers. He was retired from Crystal Farms in Chestnut Mountain and also worked with Gainesville Salvage Disposal. Mr. Stowers was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Patsy Stowers.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Stowers, Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Ken Cronan, Demorest; son, Danny Stowers, Clermont; daughters, Pat Childers, Gaffney, S.C., and Linda Moore, Hull; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Jimmy Echols, Colbert, and Brenda and Terry Hembree, Maysville; daughter, Janet Black, Commerce; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Steed, Danielsville, Donnie and Liz Steed, Athens; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday April 5, at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Mike Stowers and Lamar Kestner officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 4, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
