HULL – The Rev. Rufus Calvin Miller, 76, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in Madison County on May 3, 1935, the son of the late Joe Sanford and Katie Bell Fowler Miller. He was a minister, also a retired carpenter for Whitsel Construction, and of the Holiness denomination. Rev. Miller was a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Inez Gurley Miller, Hull; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Theresa Miller, Danielsville; daughter, Rebecca J. Miller, Hull; grandchildren, Alicia McMinn, Danielsville, Carrie Spangler, Augusta, and Amber Munro, Royston; great-grandchildren, Jacey McMinn, Hayden Munro and Gavyn Munro; brothers, Herbert Miller, Comer, and Melvin Miller, Hull; and sisters, Jessie Lee Culpepper, Pelham, and Frances Parr, Ila.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5, at 2 p.m., at the Word of Life Congregational Holiness Church in Colbert with Michael Preskitt, Revs. Kenneth Segars and Herman Nation officiating. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Hull. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Wednesday, April 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The family is at the home.
