‘E.O.’ Whitmire (3-27-12)

Eddie O. "E.O." Whitmire, 72, a longtime resident of Atlanta, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

E.O. was a native of Jefferson and a graduate of Jefferson High School. He retired from Lucent Technologies after a long dedicated career.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Frances Whitmire; sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie O. Whitmire, III and Kristy Whitmire, and Michael J. Whitmire; grandsons, Lucas, Jacob, and Joshua; sister, Jo Anne W. Tyson; and nephew, Jonathan Tyson.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning, March 30, at 11 a.m. at Oglethorpe Hill. Graveside services will take place later in the afternoon at 3 p.m. at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson.

For those who prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
Friends are invited to visit with the family Thursday evening, March 29, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
