COMMERCE - Livingston Mercier Dickerson, Jr., 75, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at his residence with his loving wife by his side.
He was born in Madison County, the son of the late L.M. "Libby" and Wyllene Carithers Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson was a member of Maysville Baptist Church. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. He attended Rabun-Gap Nachoochee High School. Early in his life he worked at Belk-Gallant, Harbor Light Marina, and as a border patrol in California and later retired from General Times and again from Base Mfg. After retirement he worked as courthouse security at Jackson County Courthouse. Junior loved little children and enjoyed playing Santa at Christmas, and also helping those less fortunate. Mr. Dickerson loved building things, fishing, and cooking Brunswick Stew.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Linda W. Dickerson, Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Elaine Turner, Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Scott Yaughn, Braselton, and Michele and Joseph Head, Commerce; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Sandra Dickerson, Villa Rica; grandchildren, Zach Turner, Ashley Turner, Etta Wyllene Yaughn, Lucas Yaughn, and Lily Ruth Head; nieces, Amanda Burross and Laura Dickerson; and his beloved dog, Foxy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, March 26 at Maysville Baptist Church with Brian Stowe and Carlton Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Grey Hill Cemetery. Charlie Newcomer, Jennings Bryan, Mike White, Danny White, Mike Lacy, JC Crocker, Robert Burross, Zach Turner, Lucas Yaughn and Amory Hall will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maysville Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, or Commerce First Baptist Church, c/o Children's Playground Fund.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
