JEFFERSON - Ardill Frances McCannon, 83, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012.
She was born in Walker Mountain, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mae Jones Powers. She was a retired custodian with the Jackson County Board of Education for 30 years, working at South Jackson Elementary. Mrs. McCannon was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Jake McCannon; son, Jimmy William McCannon; stepsons, Fred Daniel, Joe Mack and William Franklin; five brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Dennis Roberts, Jefferson, and Eive Lee Whitehead, Elberton; sister, Mary Lee Tate, Nicholson, grandchildren, Tim and Angie Parrott, Woody and Amy Brown, Tammy and Danny Cain, Diane and Danny Cofield, Kim and Sam Harp, Tracy and Jack Sorrow, Dennis and Jenifer Roberts; 24 great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and one soon to be born great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 25, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Jenkins and Minister Tom Plank officiating. The burial will follow in the Colliers Baptist Church Cemetery in Oglethorpe County, GA. The visitation will be held on Saturday evening, March 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
