DANIELSVILLE - Grady Hoover Allen, 83, passed away at Athens Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
He was born in Danielsville on March 4, 1929, the son of the late Will and Erma Lou Rowe Allen. He worked for Glenn Vaughn Construction Company for many years as well as tending to the family farm which he had done since he was a young child. Mr. Allen will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as his love for farming. Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his wife Don Nell Allen; daughter, Tammy Ferguson, daughter and son-in-law, Judy and William Sellers; and two grandchildren, Misty and Christy Sellers.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Roger Alewine; sister, Catherline Sorrow; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Tyson Jenkins; grandchildren and spouses, Louis and Gail Sellers, Wendy and Andy Jordan, Tony and Katie Ferguson, Micah and Mary Michal Ferguson; grandson Joe Alewine; great-grandchildren, James, Zachary, and Jordan Sellers, Taylor and Aylah Jordan; and good friend, Bobbie Bolemon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Moon's Grove Baptist Church on Friday, March 23, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Mr. Allen will lie in state at the church from 2:30 until 3:00. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
