TOCCOA - Raymond Alton Neal, 75, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at his residence.
Born June 10, 1936 in Columbia County, Ga., he was the son of the late Johnnie G. and Jessie Anderson Neal. Raised in Harlem, Ga., he went on to attend the University of Georgia, where he earned a business degree in 1957, and subsequently earned a banking degree from the Louisiana State University Banking School of the South. He began his career at the Georgia Railroad Bank in Augusta before coming to Toccoa in 1963, serving as vice president and cashier of the Bank of Toccoa until 1977. He subsequently served as vice president of E-Z Bore Inc. in Toccoa for some 10 years before going to work for World Finance Corp. as manager of the Commerce office, a position he held until retiring due to illness in 2008. Mr. Neal was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Lois Neal; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Camp, all of Harlem.
Family members include his wife, Kaye Mims Neal; sons and daughter-in-law, David W. Neal, and Patrick and Shelly Neal; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and David Rosenbalm; grandchildren, Haley Neal, J.T. Neal, Katie Rosenbalm, and Natalie Rosenbalm; sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Roy Stokes and Dorothy Camp; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, at the Harlem City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Jerry Stokes, John Neal, Aubrey Neal, Jeff Neal, Steve Camp, and Bob Luckino. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon Telford, George Ware, Bobby Pate, Keith Cheek, and Wendell Burton. The family will receive friends at the Whitlock Mortuary from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 20.
In lieu of lowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to your favorite charity.
