Johnnie Lou Sanders Few, 75, passed the bonds of earth into the loving arms of her Father on Friday, March 16, 2012.
She was the wife of Dr. Lindsey D. Few, Jr., a marriage that lasted 50 years. She was born on April 13, 1936, the daughter of the late John Wesley and Eula Chasteen Sanders of Danielsville. She was educated in the schools of Madison County. She attended GSCW and the University of Georgia, where she received a B.S. in Education in 1957 and a Master’s in Education in 1974 in the field of gifted education. She taught elementary grades and gifted pupils before retiring in 1994. She worked in the schools of DeKalb County, Commerce, Madison County, Alaska on-base schools and Glascock County. She retired from the public schools in 1994 after having taught in Coweta County for a number of years.
Mrs. Few was an avid gardener and served as a Sunday School teacher for the senior adult ladies at First Baptist Church, Newnan. She and her husband moved to Macon in 2007 to be near her children. She and her husband were members of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Macon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Wesley Few (Michelle), Dudley, and Cindy Phillips (Dean), Macon; as well as four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Tabernacle Baptist Church with David Hunter officiating on Sunday, March 18. Burial will be held Monday, March 19, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan. The family can be reached at 5928 Plantation Villa Drive South, Macon, Georgia 31210.
