DECATUR - Clara Carruth Jones, 75, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Maude Carruth, was a graduate of Jefferson High School, and was a member of Galilee Christian Church. Mrs. Jones was in real estate and retired from Cox Enterprises. She loved people and never met a stranger. She also loved reading and was an outstanding seamstress. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, William Jones; and a brother, Jack Carruth.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Douglas Gulley, Lithonia; son, Bill Jones, Auburn; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cecilia Jones, Duluth; grandchildren, Sharon and Bobby Thomas, Nathan Gulley, Samuel Jones and Montana Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Charlene Carruth, Coral Springs, Fla., Robert and Carol Carruth, Locust Grove, Norris and Alice Carruth, Riverdale, Fred and Roberta Carruth, Warner Robins, Charles and Juanita Carruth, Cornelia, Billy and Vonda Carruth, Jefferson; brother, Darrow Carruth, Gainesville; sister, Sarah Eskew, Jefferson; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Grace and Sewell Blackstock, Talmo; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service was held Saturday March 10, in Galilee Christian Church with Minister Tom Plank officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
