HULL - Lois Payne, 72, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
A native of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Willie Saye Williams Maxey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Gene "Shorty" Payne; and three brothers, Harry Maxey, David Maxey and Tommy Maxey. Mrs. Payne retired from Athens Regional Medical Center after 20 years of service and was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church.
Survivors include four children, Denise (Lamar) Scarborough, Bowling Green, Ky., Randy (Jacki) Payne, Watkinsville, Teresa (Bryan) Gordon and Steven Payne, all of Hull; one brother, Richard Maxey, Colbert; two sisters, Beverly Dove, Danielsville, and Kathy Keene, Colbert; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, with the Revs. Lamar Scarborough, George Lovely and Ray Jenkins officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
