OAKWOOD - Don W. Lewis, 76, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
He was born December 6, 1935, the son of the late Charles and Lura Lewis of Opal, Ark. He was a Deacon at Northside Baptist Church in Gainesville and was a retired forester with the United States Forest Service.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Patsy Lewis, Clermont; daughter, Patti Lewis, Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Karla and John Schrader, Gainesville; four brothers; two sisters; grandchildren, Corey Schrader, Dylan Lewis, Cole Schrader & Dakota Lewis; mother-in-law, Claudine Copher, Mena, Ariz.; two brothers-in-law and families in Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 4, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Revs. Shannon Wingo and Roger Abernathy will officiate and the Rev. Cecil Thomas will officiate the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, March 4, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
