HULL - Joyce England, 78, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 surrounded by her loving husband and soul mate, Richard England of 61 years, children and grandchildren following a courageous battle with cancer.
After her retirement from SunTrust Bank, she continued to enjoy camping, fishing, gardening, spending time with family and friends, but was known for her gift of delicious cooking.
Survivors in addition to her husband include sons, Steve (Kellie) and Rodney England; sister-in-law, Bernice Hooper; grandchildren, Anthony (Mandy) England, Andy England, Whitney (Jordan) Byce, Jacob England, and Garland England; great-granddaughter, Samantha England; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with the Revs. Morris Sapp and Jonathan Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Anthony England, Nile Faulkner, David Hill, Danny Hopkins, Lance Malaier and Brandon McEachern. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy England and Jacob England. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, P.O. Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604 who so compassionately provided excellent care to her and her family during her last days. The family also expresses their gratitude to Dr. Tom Wells.
