DANIELSVILLE – Marshall Edward Dixon, 86, died early Thursday morning, February 23, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Athens.
Born in Miami, Fla., he was the son of the late Samuel Peyton and Nancy Bell Edwards Dixon. Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by two sons, David Dixon and Marshall Dixon Jr. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II and of the United States Army, having served in Korea.
Survivors include children, Leslie Alewine, Danielsville, Allyson Dixon, North Carolina, Claudia Roberts, Danielsville, Kimberly LeCroy, South Carolina, Michael Dixon, Peachtree City, Samuel Dixon III, Alaska, and Edward Dixon, Bogart; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Monday, February 27, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home in Danielsville with the Rev. Robby Brown officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
