JEFFERSON – Trudie Hands left this earthly home to go to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 4, 2012.
On February 8, 1906, she was born, the daughter of the late Robert and Mattie Little Jackson in Perry. She was the oldest of ten children. She attended school in Perry and moved to Florida in 1930 as a migrant worker. She became an entrepreneur, and was married to the late Tim Jones. She later married Mr. Arthur Hands.
She was a member of the St. John Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a faithful member of the Mother Board.
Trudie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Andrew Jackson, Adam Jackson, and Robert Jackson; four sisters, Ola Bohanan, Lizzie Suggs, Ann Stokes, Gladis Anderson, and Mattie Brown.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her only sibling, Clara Duhart McGriff, Hawkinsville; and a devoted niece, Lila Mason, Jefferson.
Funeral services were held at the Sardis Presbyterian Church on Monday, February 13. Pastor Cheryl Barnes was the Eulogist.
Wimberly & Jackson Funeral Home of Gainesville was in charge of arrangements.
Funeral service and internment was held Saturday, February 18, at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Boynton Beach, Fla., with the Rev. Lance Chaney Officiating.
The Straghn & Son Funeral Home of Delray Beach, Fla. was also in charge of arrangements.
