LOGANVILLE - Hulon “Pete” Martin, 92, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012, and his wife, Faye Thompson Martin, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
They were married May 23, 1941, and lived in Decatur for 42 years before moving in 1993 to Snellville, where they lived until 2009. Mr. Martin graduated from Winder High School in 1938, was a United States Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Campton Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, and a member of the Shriners Club. He was a retired electrician with Fischbach and Moore Electrical Contractors.
Mrs. Martin retired from the Center for Disease Control in 1984 as a Personnel Placement Specialist, and spent her latter years as a homemaker.
Survivors include their daughters, Judy Martin, Smyrna, Melanie (John) Milledge, Monroe, and Denise “Neesie” (Byron) Moilanen, Monroe; a son, Charles Douglas (Joanne) Martin, Snellville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and Mr. Martin's sister, Betty Coker, Fayetteville.
The funeral services will be held Friday, February 17, at 11 a.m., at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Roger Vest officiating. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
