Becky Powers, 56, of Cornelia, died Tuesday, July 26, 2008, at Peachtree Christian Hospice, following an extended illness.
She was born in Habersham County on February 20, 1952, the daughter of H. Hamilton Gibbs Jr. and the late Betty Grant Gibbs. She was the sister-in-law of Grace Mobley of Baldwin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Hal Cason Jr. and Phillip Yarber officiating. Graveside services will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Lena McGahee, 170 Thomas St., Cornelia, Ga. 30531, or to the John B. Gesbocker Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1492, Clarkesville, Ga. 30523.
