Ruth Smith (2-3-12)

JEFFERSON - Ruth Trammell Smith, 83, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Hill Haven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Smith was born in Jefferson, the daughter of the late Floyd and Mattie Dowdy Trammell. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Smith, Jr.; sons, Charles and Earl Smith; brothers, Joe and Edd Trammell; and granddaughter, Sandra Corpus.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Lou Sims, Greensboro, and Elise Corpus, Jefferson; sons, Willard Smith, Evans, Leonard Smith, Jefferson, Tony Smith, Danielsville, and Jimmy Smith, Augusta; a sister, Vivian Howington, Jefferson; grandchildren, Katherine Rintoul, Robert Corpus, Chris Smith, Tim Smith, Brandon Smith and Amber Smith; and great-grandchildren, Triston Webb and Colton Smith.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m., Sunday, February 5 at the Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLemore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 3:30 Sunday.
