NICHOLSON - Jack Oliver Archer, 78, husband of Virginia Epps Archer, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at his residence.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Edward Ernest and Annie Lou Oliver Archer and the brother of four sisters and six brothers, who also preceded him in death. Jack retired from the University of Georgia Food Services after 25 years. He was a member of the Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church and served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors in addition to his wife Virginia, include three children and their spouses, Randy and Pat Archer, Nicholson, Terresa and Todd Alexander, Hull, Brian and Lisa Archer, Buford; six grandchildren, Phillip (Amanda) Archer, Michelle Archer, Dustin Alexander, Courtney Alexander, Cameron Archer, and Caleb Archer; and great-grandchildren, Aiden Archer and Jack Archer.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27, at 2 p.m. at the Gordon's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill Jackson and Dayton Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Hardy, Jimmy Epps, Scott Epps, Andy Epps, Charlie Waters, James Williams, Frankie Watkins, Johnny White. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 26, at the funeral home.
