HOMER - Phillip Dwight Blackburn, 59, died Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Jackson County on June 22, 1952, he was the son of the late Roy Edward and Bertie Ruth Barrett Blackburn. He was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed getting together with family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Cheri Marie Brookshire Blackburn, Homer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Jean and George Douglas Andrews, Alto, and Deborah Ann and Robert Lee Pritchett, Homer; brother, Kenneth Jerry Blackburn, Cornelia; mother-in-law, Nettie Elaine Zent, Decatur, Ala.; brother-in-law, James Hugh Brookshire, Jr. Madison, Ala.; sister-in-law, Marilyn Lynn Stowe, Decatur, Ala.; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Mr. Blackburn was cremated.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at the Bethany Christian Church in Homer, with Pastor Keith Holladay officiating.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of arrangements.
