Oscar Smith

Oscar Smith, 65, of Winder, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008.

He was born June 17, 1943, in Barrow County, the son of the late Norbert and Bakie Lou Smith. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Odessa Brown; and brother, Joe Lewis Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Mae Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Oscar Smith Jr. and Felicia Smith, Ricky and Temika Brown, Monroe; grandchildren, Chelsea Smith, Jamal Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Antonio Fields, Monroe; sisters and brothers-in-law, Olivia Griggs, Ovella and Glynn Tanner, both of Winder, Ola Smith, Atlanta, and Phyllis and Phillip Wells, Bethlehem; brothers and sister-in-law, John Willie Smith, Walnut Grove, Arthur and Annie Smith, Bethlehem, Robert Lee Smith, Winder; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 23, at Bethlehem AME Zion Church in Winder with the Rev. David Character Jr., Pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
